Soon the registration period will be open and we will know some of the novelties that the seventh edition of the event brings with it.
The seventh edition of the Arbitration Open 2021 will take place in Madrid on 6 and 7 October. A unique and innovative event that reinvents itself every year to present all the latest developments in international commercial and investment arbitration.
The theme chosen for this seventh edition of the congress is sustainability and the environment. A highly topical issue that has materialised in the world of arbitration with the creation of the international initiative Greener Arbitrations, to which both the European Arbitration Association and the organisation of the Open of Arbitration have subscribed.
One of the central tables of the event, organised by our sponsor Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, will be an interview with Lucy Greenwood, international arbitrator and founding member of this interesting initiative. The interview, entitled «Sustainability and green arbitration» will be conducted by Noiana Marigo (Partner at Freshfields) and will be an interactive discussion on some of the key paradigms and issues that arbitration should address in the context of sustainability.
Another novelty compared to the previous edition is the return to face-to-face attendance. Up to 200 people will be able to access the event on-site, always complying with all the measures recommended by the health authorities. The on-site format will be combined with an online streaming broadcast that will be hosted on our new Arbee platform, through which attendees will have access to numerous tools such as online networking, 1to1 meetings or sharing multimedia content. Arbee was created as a social network for arbitration professionals at an international level and will remain active for a year after the congress has ended. The aim is to provide an innovative space for companies, arbitrators, experts and other arbitration players to establish connections and maintain the possibility of making new contacts.
Some of the topics confirmed for the event are:
- The EU’s new green taxonomy: towards a new surge of disputes in the O&G sector?
- Madrid safe seat of arbitration: The recent TC rulings.
- Arbitration and Human Rights.
- Evolution and adaptation of arbitration to new global paradigms.
- Arbitration and the Environment.
Once again this year, we are overwhelmed by the support and trust placed in the event by our sponsors. They are the ones who make the Arbitration Open as we know it possible, and we would like to thank each and every one of them for their support. Stay tuned, the registration period will open soon!
